Lazere, Frederick M., 91, Cresson, went home to be with the Lord, April 10, 2018 at UPMC Altoona Palliative Care, surrounded by his loving family. Born September 21, 1926, in Cassandra, son of the late John J. and Mary A. (Kelly) Lazere. Preceded in death by brothers, Jack, Paul, Raymond and Don; sister, Doris Lazere, and infant sister, Janet Lazere. Survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Rose A. (Sako); daughters, Janet Gottlied (Mark), MD; Kathleen Lazere (Patrick Farabaugh), Loretto; Susan Lazere, OH; grandchildren, Kelly Walding (Joe Vinglas); Ellis Walding (Rebecca); Michael Walding (Penny); Joshua Gottlied; and Luke Farabaugh; great-grandchildren, Hayley Walding; Montana Vinglas; Rose Walding; Lily Walding; Emma Gottlied; and Hera Walding; sisters, Margaret Gill (Robert), FL; Elizabeth “Betty” Lazere, Portage; brothers, Patrick “Herb” Lazere, VA; Kenneth Lazere (Lynn), GA; and numerous nieces and nephews. Fred was a WWII US Navy veteran and worked as a distributor of Wise Products through Bender Wholesale Food Inc., known by many as the “Chip Guy”. He was a member of the St. Ann’s Knights of Columbus, Cresson American Legion Post 238, and the Vol. Fireman’s Assn. of Cambria County. Member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church where he was actively involved in all the festivals and also calling Bingo. Fred was an avid outdoorsman; enjoying hunting, fishing, gardening, and working outside. He was a Steelers season ticket holder and passionate about all Pittsburgh Sports teams. He also enjoyed bowling in multiple leagues. His greatest accomplishment was being a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother. Friends will be received April 15 from 5-8 p.m. at Kennedy-Anderson Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cresson. Funeral Mass will be celebrated April 16 at 11 a.m., St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Fr. Matthew Reese, Celebrant. Military honors will be conducted after mass by the Cresson & Loretto American Legions, Sankertown VFW, and other local veteran organizations. Interment St. Francis Xavier Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the UPMC Altoona Palliative Care Unit, 620 Howard Ave., Altoona, PA 16601 or to a charity of your choice in memory of Fred.
