Getz, Frederick Allen, 75, Mount Union, passed away Tuesday August 15, 2023, at home. Born May 21, 1949, Huntingdon County, son of the late Robert and Phyllis (Yocum) Getz. Survived by his loving daughter, Jennie Lewis and husband, Brian; 1 granddaughter, Jacqueline Shives; 1 great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Godart; brother, Russell Getz and wife, Meda; sister, Louise Cortez; sister-in-law, Bonnie Getz; brother-in-law, Jim Ardrey; and special nephews, Terry Getz and Larry Grubb, and numerous other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Preceded in death by his siblings, Charles Getz and Debora Ardrey. Frederick was a 1967 graduate of Huntingdon Area High School. He honorably served his country in the United States Army. Frederick worked at the Harbison Walker Brick Yard before becoming a heavy equipment operator until his retirement. Frederick loved hunting, fishing and reading. He was an avid football fan and enjoyed rooting for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Penn State Nittany Lions. Frederick also liked to watch NASCAR. Friends and family will be received on Monday August 21, 2023, from 10 a.m. until the time of memorial service at 1 p.m., at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Friends of the Mount Union Community Library, 11 W Market Street Mount Union, PA 17066.
