Obituary

Filak, Francis A. “Peanuts”, 75, Cresson, passed away on January 14, 2025, at UPMC Altoona. Born January 25, 1949, Lilly, son of the late Andrew P. Filak and Florence (Ahles) Zelenski. Francis is survived by his loving wife, Angeline T. “Cookie” (Guzic) Filak. Also survived by his daughter, Toni (Jeff) Krug; son, Andrew “Andy” Filak; grandchildren, Madison Krug, Morghan Krug, Marlie Krug and Isaac Filak; siblings, Barbara, Larry, Rick and Chuck; numerous nieces and nephews; and many special friends. He also had a special place in his heart for his beloved dog, Lucy. Francis was a proud veteran, serving in the United States Marines Corps during the Vietnam Era earning the rank of Corporal. Francis loved playing golf with all his golf friends. He also enjoyed driving around town to visit all his friends, going hunting, and watching his grandson wrestle. Most of all, Francis loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. A service will be held Friday, January 17, 2025, at 1 p.m., Loretto American Legion, 277 Saint Mary Street, Loretto, PA 15940, with Military Honors provided by the Loretto American Legion and other local military organizations, followed by a Celebration of Life until 4 p.m. Arrangements have been entrusted to Anderson Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 233 Keystone Ave., Cresson, “Honored Provider of Veterans Funeral Care.” Condolences may be made at AndersonFamilyFuneralHomes.com.
