Esther P. Spinner

Spinner, Esther P., 90, Sankertown, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 10, 2018, surrounded by her beloved and devoted family. Born November 1, 1927, Sankertown, daughter of the late Edward and Mary (Kearnes) Hammond. Preceded in death by brothers, Walter, James, and Bernard Hammond; and sisters, Catherine Byrnes and Alice Schnaubelt. Survived by her loving husband of 67 years, George, whom she married on June 16, 1951 and was faithfully by her side until the end; two daughters, Mary Lou (Raymond) Sherry, Ashville; Karen (Ronald) Wilson, South Fork; grandchildren, Scott (Carolyn) and Doug (Erin) Sherry; Ryan, Kevin, and Amanda Wilson; great-grandchildren whom she adored, Parker, McKenna, Easton, and Braden; sister-in-law and best friend, Helen Hammond; and numerous nieces and nephews who were all special to her. Esther was always there to lend a hand and a smile for anyone. She is the last surviving member of her family. Esther a devoted, gentile, kind woman of faith was a lifetime member of St. Francis Xavier Church and its Altar Rosary. She loved spending time on the porch with her husband and with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren always having a treat for them; she will be remembered for her deep love of family, her favorite dishes she made for everyone and her caring nature. Esther also loved going to bingo and playing lottery tickets. Family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Maple Winds Care Center & Cambria Co. Hospice for the care Esther received. Friends will be received June 12, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Kennedy-Anderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Cresson, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. Funeral Mass will be celebrated June 13, 1 p.m., St. Francis Xavier Church, Cresson, Fr. Matthew Reese, Celebrant. Interment St. Francis Xavier Cemetery.
