Obituary

Esther C. Gaisior, 93, McVeytown, passed away at Geisinger Medical Center, Lewistown on January 8, 2026. Born January 6, 1933, daughter of the late Theodore and Gladys (Espigh) Kauffman. In addition to her parents, Esther is preceded in death by her husband, Max J. Gaisior; son, Scott Gaisior; brother, Russell Kauffman; sisters, Dorothy Bitner, Elizabeth Morrison, and Rebecca Sherman. Mrs. Gaisior is survived by her sons, Max (Trace) Gaisior, Jr. and Richard Gaisior; her grandchildren, Heather Stricker, Crystal Bartlett, Abby Payne, Justin Gaisior, Jason Gaisior, and Daniel Gaisior; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and her sisters, Anna Casner, Nancy Yoder, Barb Kuhns, and Christine Baker. Esther was a proud member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas and a faithful parishioner of St. Catherine’s Church in Mount Union. Her faith guided her life and her service to others. She retired from Ohesson Manor in Lewistown, where she worked as nurse for over 30 years. Esther loved to travel, she enjoyed visiting many destinations across the United States and traveled out of the country a few times. She collected unique thimbles from all of the places she would visit on her travels and created a very impressive collection over the years. She had a deep love for reading and could often be found enjoying a good book or working on crossword puzzles and other puzzles, activities she truly cherished. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her curiosity, and her love of learning and adventure. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her. A Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2026, from 10:00 – 11:00 at St. Catherine’s Church, Mount Union with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00.
