Erin Lynn Kratzer

Kratzer, Erin Lynn, 39, of Debary, Florida, formerly of Mount Union, passed away on September 6, 2025. Born February 24, 1986, Johnstown, daughter of Leslie (Snyder) Backenstoss and the late James “Squeak” Kratzer. Additionally, she is preceded in death by; grandparents Bonnie and Claire “Jerry” Kratzer; a special cousin, Jayann; and three uncles, including her Uncle Jamie Cornelius, whom she will spend eternity next to. She is survived by husband, Sakkarias “Sam” Thankachan; mother and stepfather, Acai Backenstoss; sister, Maria (Scavone) Clancy, and husband, Brennen; niece, Mia Clancy; two nephews, Luke Henry and Cullen Clancy; maternal grandmother, Nina Vaughn, who helped raise her and with whom she had a special bond; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins who loved her. Erin also leaves behind her beloved dog, Brandy. Erin attended Mount Union Area Schools until her sophomore year in high school, when she transferred to Johnstown Career and Technology Center, where she graduated in 2004. Erin had a love for dogs, and she enjoyed spending time with her many friends and family members. Family and friends are invited to a graveside service on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 12 noon at the Haven Rest Memorial Park, Shirleysburg.
