Elizabeth M. "Betty" McMullen

McMullen, Elizabeth M. "Betty", 92, Cresson, passed away October 15, 2016, at her daughter's home in Portage. Born January 11, 1924, in Cresson, daughter of the late James and Rosalyn (Ahles) Mulhern. Preceded in death by husband, Joseph C. McMullen; brother, William; and sister, Mary Lucinda Dutko. Survived by children: RoseAnn McMullen, Johnstown; Josie, married to Charles Kostan, Portage; and Paul McMullen, Cresson; grandchildren: Christopher, Kelly, Angie, Julie and Matthew; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Pearl Noland; and brother, Patrick Mulhern, both of Cresson; and many nieces and nephews. Betty especially loved and enjoyed family gatherings, the children, and cooking for everyone and every occasion. But it was her faith in God that sustained and strengthened her. A lifelong member of St. Aloysius Parish, Cresson, she attended daily Mass until, at 89 years of age, it was no longer a "safe walk" to the church. The church that she had worked tirelessly to support through various fundraisers (festivals, dinners, ticket sales etc.). Her life was her faith and her family. " Dearly loved, greatly missed, and finally home." Family and friends received from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Charles M. Kennedy Funeral Home, Cresson, where Legion of Mary will recite the rosary at 3 p.m., followed by vigil for the deceased. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Aloysius Church, Rev. Paul Robine. Committal, church cemetery. www.cmkennedyfh.com
