Edward P. Ferut, Jr.

Ferut, Jr., Edward P., 67, Cresson, passed away Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family. Born September 17, 1953, Altoona, son of the late Edward P. and Dorthea (Lysic) Ferut, Sr. Preceded in death by his aunts, uncles, nephews and special pet, Jinx. Survived by his wife of 44 years, Betty (Sweeney) Ferut; children, Edward G. Ferut; Corrine Wentz and husband, Bill; and David A. Ferut and fiancé, Karla, and her children, Jasmine and Jamel; and sisters, Annette Crocetti and husband, Mario; and Jeanette Ferut. Ed served in the US Army as a heavy machine operator during the Vietnam Era in Germany from 1973-1976 and earned the rank of sergeant. He met his future wife, Betty who also served in the Army while stationed in Germany. Ed received his associate’s degree in criminal justice from Mount Aloysius College. He was a correctional officer for SCI Cresson and retired in 1996. At his request, there will be no viewing or services. Memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to help defray expenses.
