David James Stake

Stake, David James, 52, Mount Union, passed away December 10, 2021, at home surrounded by his family. Born February 8, 1969, Huntingdon, son of Norma L. (Bilger) and the late Donald H. Stake. Preceded in death by infant sons, Matthew and Anthony. Survived by loving wife, Kimberly M. (Brown) Stake; children, Derrick Hunter Stake, Luke Hawkeye Stake and wife, Trisha; Todd Trapper Stake and wife, Ariahna; Hunter Levi Stake and girlfriend, Selina; and Tanner Wyatt Stake; grandchildren, Jacob Isaac Stake and Gabriella Rose Harne; and like grandchildren, Greyson Rylan “George” and Leighton Paige “Sissy” Brown; brother, William Stake and wife, Dawn; nieces, Renee Shearn and husband, Josh; Heather Irvin and husband, Wayne; Nicole Starr and husband Eric; Natalie Stake and fiancé, Austin; nephew, Corey Stake and wife, Kayla; former wife, Lori Ann (Piper) Snyder, mother of Derrick, Luke and Todd. David was a 1987 graduate of Mount Union Area High School. He worked in corrections at SCI Graterford before working at U.S. Silica. David returned to corrections serving at SCI Smithfield. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and trapper. David loved spending time with his family and friends in nature, cooking, and arrowhead hunting. He will be remembered for his caring and sharing nature and being a “father to many”. Family and friends will be received on Wednesday December 15, 2021, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the funeral home and again on Thursday December 16, 2021, from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 12 p.m., Pastors Frank Menhart and Denise Percival, co-officiants. Interment to follow at Mt. Nebo Cemetery, Shirleysburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made directly to the funeral home.
