David L. Humm

Humm, David Laurence, “Dave”, 81, of Gallitzin, a beloved husband, brother, veteran, and world-class storyteller, passed away peacefully at home with his loved ones by his side on Thursday, October 16, 2025. Born June 5, 1944, Altoona, son of the late Johnny “Ho Ho” and Shirley (Mills) Humm. Also preceded in death by his brother, Charles. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Debi Humm; his daughter, Angela; his three sisters, Elsie, Kathy, and Sally; and scores of loving nieces and nephews. Dave proudly served his country as a Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force for 23 years, retiring in November 1986. He brought the same dedication and discipline from his military career into everything he did. After retirement, Dave continued his service through deep involvement in the veteran community. He was a proud member of the American Legion, served on the Five Unit Honor Guard of Cresson and made history as the first male member of the Cresson American Legion Auxiliary. His commitment to fellow veterans extended to his volunteer work at the Hollidaysburg Veterans’ Home. A die-hard Penn State and Pittsburgh Steelers fan, Dave believed that football season was a sacred time and those who knew him best knew not to bother him during a game. When he wasn’t cheering on his teams, Dave was outdoors with his garden, spending time with his many cherished pets, cooking delicious meals large enough to feed an entire family, or planning the next adventure with the love of his life, Debi. Together, Dave and Debi shared 48 years of true companionship, traveling the world, playing games late into the night, and laughing daily. Their love was the kind that made other couples take notes. A celebration of life will be held in the future at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Cambria County Humane Society, a place close to Dave’s heart at https://www.humanecambria.org/donate/. Arrangements have been entrusted to Anderson Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 233 Keystone Ave., Cresson, “Honored Provider of Veterans Funeral Care.” Condolences may be made at AndersonFamilyFuneralHomes.com
