David Joseph Brummert

Brummert, David Joseph, 75, Cresson, a friend to everyone he met, passed away at his home on July 21, 2018. From the time of his birth in South Fork on August 22, 1942, Dave knew how to light up a room with his smile. He was a machinist by trade and never shied away from hard work. He was everyone’s favorite “Uncle Dave” – compassionate, affectionate, witty and generous - the word “no” was not in his vocabulary. David loved to spend his summers gardening and trying to grow bigger tomatoes than his brothers. He had a special knack for tinkering with cars in his garage and tackling home improvement projects. He rarely missed a Steelers game, loved to swim in the ocean, tease his grandchildren and take long walks in the woods with his doggie, Bailey. He was married to Elizabeth Joan (Dodge) Brummert for almost 55 years and raised four children, Kimberly Rose Bratcher (Mark), Jerry Michael Brummert (Michelle), Terri Lynn Holmes (Mark), and Jennifer Elizabeth Will (Aaron). He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Viola (Boland) Brummert; and twin sister, Joan Ann Brummert. He is survived by his loving wife, children and siblings: Delores Rager (Jay), Russell Brummert (Brenda), Marlene Lumb (William) and Terry Brummert (Lucinda). He leaves behind 14 grandchildren:  Randall David Weimer, Justin Weimer, Nathan Bratcher, Kyle Bratcher (Kimberly), Michael Brummert, Daniel Brummert, David Brummert (Jerry), Brittany McRobie, Jeffrey Long, Cameron Long, Morgan Long, Carson Holmes (Terri), Macy Will and Parker David Will (Jennifer). Family and friends who would like to reminisce or tell their favorite stories and jokes are invited to Kennedy-Anderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 233 Keystone Ave, Cresson on Friday, July 27 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.  A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m., St. Francis Xavier Church, Cresson, Fr. Matthew Reese, celebrant. In lieu of flowers, Dave would probably prefer that you raise your glass and remember, “If you can’t be good, be like Dave!” Arrangements handled by Kennedy-Anderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Condolences may be made at KennedyAndersonFuneralHome.com
