Hanes, Clyde “Sonny”, 86, Mount Union, passed away January 18, 2022, at home surrounded by his family. Born August 23, 1935, Galeton, Pennsylvania, son of the late Clyde M. and Virginia (Rhodes) Hanes. Survived by companion, Ruth Hanes; children, Nancy Kumpf and husband, Guy, Mount Union; Clyde Edward Hanes, Athens GA; Denny Leroy Hanes, Mount Union; and Steven Hanes, Huntingdon; 21 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; siblings, Kaye Edwards, Janice Bickel, Gabe Hanes, Robert Hanes, and Clifford Hanes. Preceded in death by siblings, Hazel, Flossy, Cecil, and Kenny Hanes. Clyde honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He worked as a steel fabricator and was a certified welder. Clyde was a former member of the Blue Juniata VFW Post 5754. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and dirt track racing—where he raced super modifieds years ago. Most of all Clyde loved to spend time with his family and friends. A celebration of life will be held later at the convenience of the family.
