John, Charles “Chuck” T., 66, Cresson, passed away October 14, 2021 at UPMC Presbyterian, Pittsburgh. Born October 25, 1954, Worcester, Mass., son of the late Theodore K. and Rita A. (Tasi) John. Preceded in death by his father-in-law, Donald Scanlon; and sister-in-law, Katherine Hook. Survived by his loving wife, Judith M. (Scanlon); sister, Elizabeth Jezierski and husband David, Conn.; mother-in-law, Anna Scanlon, Conn., brothers-in-law, Jack Hook, Ohio; James Scanlon, Conn.; sister-in-law, Janet Scanlon, Mass.; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Charles was united in marriage with Judy for 34 years. They had nine German Shepherd’s throughout those years that they shared their home with. Chuck was a veteran of the US Marine Corps, serving in Desert Storm. He retired from the US Marine Corps earning the rank of First Sergeant. Chuck also retired as a corrections officer from SCI Houtzdale. He was an avid cycler and was a highly proficient sharpshooter. Chuck was a member of the Sankertown VFW, Military Funeral Honor Guard, and the Central PA Prayer Group. He also enjoyed participating in the bowling league at Holliday Bowl, Altoona. At the request of the family, a funeral Mass was held privately on Monday, October 18, 2021 at St. Francis Xavier Church, Fr. Leo Arnone, celebrant. Burial at St. Francis Xavier Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to All Saints Catholic School, Cresson; Tunnel To Towers, t2t.org; or for Catholic Masses.
