Burns, Camilla E. “Tootie”, 90, resident of Hollidaysburg Veterans Home, formerly of Cresson, passed away May 2, 2023 at the Home surrounded by loved ones. Born October 26, 1932 in Allegheny Township, Cambria Co., daughter of late Cyril J. and Camilla E. (Itle) Hogue. Preceded in death by husband, Ellis “Sonny” Burns in August of 1984; children, James and Sally, and son-in-law, Scott Cleveland; brothers, Leonard and Edward Hogue; and sisters, Ella Marie Hogue, Gladys Suber, and Lois Drahnak. Survived by children, Ken (Vicki Durst) Burns, Susan Cleveland, Patricia (Ken) Robine, Ann (Ken) Plummer, John Burns, Bill Burns, Joan (Tim) Latterner, and Scott (Cheryl Benshoff) Burns; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandsons; sisters, Florence Terchek, Darlene (Butch) Shuagis; brother, George Hogue; sisters-in-law, Shirley and Janet Hogue; brother-in-law, John Drahnak; and numerous nieces and nephews. Camilla was very active in the Cresson community where she held various positions in the Cresson Borough Election Board, Women’s Democratic Club, Red Cross, and 8&40. Her greatest passion of all was helping veterans. She became a member of the Cresson American Legion Auxiliary Post 238 in 1969 where she held many positions. She then became president for many years as well as a life member. She also served the Cambria County Council of the Auxiliary as president and continued her work in various programs throughout Pennsylvania. Tootie was always cooking something up at the Cresson Legion, serving numerous events. She never declined the opportunity to help. She was a very devoted loving mother and grandmother who loved filling up everyone’s bellies, listening with a tender heart, and always having a smile. She will be deeply missed. Friends and family will be received Thursday, May 4, 2023 from 4-8 p.m., Anderson Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, May 5, 2023 at 4 p.m., The Basilica of St. Michael, Loretto, Very Rev. Fr. John Byrnes, Celebrant. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home c/o Activities, Keystone Regional Fire. Co., or Cambria Alliance EMS.
