Bruce Allyn Burgess passed away peacefully on January 20, 2026, at the age of 78. Bruce was the beloved son of the late Dr. Stanley Burgess and Margaret Burgess of Huntingdon, Pa. (formerly of Mount Union, Pa.), and is survived by his cousins Blaine Burgess, Lynne Smith, Carmi Pfeifer, and Dawn Clark. Bruce was outgoing, kind, and curious, with a love of history, family and faith. Bruce was the family's 'go to' guy for recalling family history and lore, confirming dates, places and events. It was a joy to listen to Bruce share these memories. Though faced with intellectual and physical challenges, Bruce and his family never let that stand in the way of leading a life full of travel, sailing, faith, friends, and family. The town of Huntingdon, Pa knew Bruce well. He could be found throughout the day frequenting local eateries, attending church and playing the handbells, and attending community events. He loved his independence, wanting to be out and about, and could eventually be seen on his 'scooter' around town. Bruce loved the town and the town embraced Bruce. The Burgess family will be forever grateful to Jaime Martin and Trish Norris, who were extended family caring for Bruce as one of their own. By honoring his parents' wishes, they ensured Bruce could continue living the full, independent life his family wanted for him. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: First United Methodist Church, Huntingdon or Huntingdon County Humane Society.
