Sunderland, Betty B. (Sechrist), 96, McVeytown, passed away Sunday March 3, 2024, at Hershey Medical Center. Born November 16, 1927, Newton Hamilton, daughter of the late Albert C. and Clara C. (Pollock) Sechrist. Preceded in death by her loving husband, Jesse L. Sunderland, whom she married on September 12, 1947. Also preceded by daughter, Bonnie K. Taylor and son, Eugene J. Sunderland; siblings, Raymond, Mervin, Ralph, Daniel, and Roy Sechrist; and Dona J. “Tub” Hesser. Survived by children, Irene Wyland, and Lester M. Sunderland; daughter-in-law, Helen Sunderland; 6 grandchildren, several great grandchildren; siblings, Dorothy Gladfelder and Robert “Mick” Sechrist; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mrs. Sunderland was a member of the Atkinson Mills United Methodist Church. She enjoyed spending time with the Country Crossroads Senior Citizens where she would make quilts and play board games. Mrs. Sunderland liked gardening and spending time with her family and friends. Family and friends will be received on Thursday March 7, 2024, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 12 noon, at the funeral home, Pastor Faith Anderson, officiant. Interment to follow at Juniata Memorial Park, Lewistown. Arrangements have been entrusted to Heath-Anderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 61 E.
