Shope, Betty Ann, 76, a lifelong resident of Mount Union, PA died unexpectedly on January 8, 2021 at her home.

Betty Ann is survived by a sister, Patricia Giacobello, of Whitehouse Station, NJ; a brother, Gerald Shope (wife, Linda) of Alexandria, PA; and several cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Helen Shope; grandparents, Bruce and Martha Fleming; aunt and uncle, Betty and Dr. Robert Fleming; and sisters, Gloria (Shope) Glasgow and Jean (Shope) Morris.

Betty Ann was born on July 5, 1944 to Charles and Helen Shope at Ft. McClellan, AL. She lived most of her life in Mount Union with her aunt and uncle, Betty and Dr. Robert Fleming, at 121 W. Market Street. She graduated from Captain Jack High School in 1963. Betty Ann was a member of St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic Church in Mount Union for many years. She was a dedicated worker at Skills and was well liked by everyone there.

Betty Ann was a gentle soul who was well known in in her community and friendly to everyone she met along the way. She loved cats and dogs and some of her favorite activities were eating out and shopping. She will be deeply missed by family, friends, and all who knew her.

As St. Francis de Sales stated, “Make yourself familiar with the angels, and behold them frequently in spirit; for without being seen, they are present with you.” Betty Ann, now you are truly seen by the angels and in the presence of angels, watching over all of us now and forevermore.

Friends and family will be received Wednesday February 3, 2021 from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 12 p.m., at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Betty Ann’s memory to St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic Church, 203 W. Market St., Mount Union, PA 17066. Arrangements have been entrusted to Heath-Anderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 61 E.
