Barbara J. Whitsel

Whitsel, Barbara J., 94, of Mount Union, passed away on July 20, 2019 at her home. Born May 27, 1925, in Brownsville, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Roy E. and Hazel (Warne) Jensen. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Paul E. Whitsel; son, Stanley; and sister, JoAnn Betts. Survived by her children, Ralph Weaver and wife, Karin, McVeytown; Jonathan Weaver and wife Angelina, Lewistown; Bradley Whitsel and wife, Laurie, Ligonier; and Christopher Whitsel, Hill Valley; grandchildren, Priscilla, Christian, and Amy; brother, Boyd Jensen, Covington, Virginia; and daughter-in-law, Rhonda Whitsel, Greensburg. Barbara received her bachelor’s degree from Juniata College in 1948. She later received her master’s degree in education from Penn State University and taught in the public school system for 28 years, mainly in the Mount Union Area School District. In accordance with her wishes, there will be no viewing or service. A private celebration of her life will be held at a later time with her family and friends. Inurnment will take place at Mount Union Cemetery.
