Barbara K. Hand

Hand, Barbara K. (Shehan), 73, Mount Union, passed away October 31, 2023, at Geisinger Hospital, Lewistown. Born January 18, 1950, Lewistown, daughter of the late Lawrence and Faye (Traxler) Shehan. Survived by her loving husband, Charles A. Hand; children, Charles L. Hand and fiancé, Joelene Seilhamer; Catherine J. Dixon and husband, John; and Crystal K. Cannon and husband, Paul, all of Mount Union; 9 grandchildren, Kobe, Kyra, Myah, Emmy, Sean, Trevor, Darian, Michael and Cheyenne; 11 great grandchildren; brother Dennis Shehan and wife, Darlene, Mill Creek; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Preceded in death by sisters, Mildred Peterson, Mary Ann Arnold, and Shirley Smith. Barbara attended the Wesleyan Church. She was a direct care worker for Allegheny United Cerebral Palsy. She was a member of the Mapleton American Legion and member of the Ladies Auxiliary. Barbara was also a cheerleading coach for the Mount Union Vikings. Most of all she loved to spend time with her family and friends—especially her grandchildren. Family and friends will be received on Monday November 6, 2023, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. and again on Tuesday November 7, 2023, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m., at the funeral home, Pastor Dan Metz, officiant.
