Barbara Suzanne Hailer

Hailer, Barbara Suzanne, 82, Cresson, died June 21, 2017, at UPMC Altoona. Born Nov. 10, 1934, in Johnstown, daughter of the late Maurice and Mary Ellen (Spahr) Rice. Preceded in death by husband, James, on March 14, 2014, and brother, Maurice. Survived by children: Michael (Gina), Patrick, Tim, and Kelly Gill (Jonathan); her "adopted children": Mary Harker, Steve Toth, Ray Softy, and all her C.C.D. kids; and grandchildren: Brittany, Dylan, Christina, Christopher, Zachary, Mary Ellen, Sarah and Abigail; and siblings: Carol Farren, Mary Grace Latterner, Catherine Foor, James Rice, Brenda Krisko, George Rice, William Rice, Rebecca Clay, Martha Jane Gungon, and Renee Lomond. Barbara, fondly remembered as "Barbie Doll", was often referred to as the honorary mayor of Cresson. Her smile and wit would light up a room. A devoted Catholic, she was a member of St. Francis Xavier Church, Cresson, where she was "Super Sub" for the C.C.D. program, a eucharistic minister and member of Martha and Mary Prayer Circle. Also was a member of the Pink Panthers and Cresson Volunteer Fire Company's Women's Auxiliary. Barb's greatest passions were her family and BINGO. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Charles M. Kennedy Funeral Home, Cresson, where the Martha and Mary Prayer Circle will say the rosary at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Francis Xavier Church, Rev. Leo Arnone.
