Anna Louise Craig, 98, passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at her home in Newton Hamilton, PA. Born October 30, 1923 in Wayne Township, Mifflin County, to the late Herman B. and Nellie A. (Lane) Bard, she was united in marriage to Edward L. Craig in 1945. Anna’s parents, her husband, brother H. Fred Bard, and one grandchild, Elizabeth Craig, preceded her in death. She is survived by children Dorothy (Victor) Dove, Harrisburg, PA; Margie (James) Haag, Carlisle, PA; Edna “Toots” Craig, Fort Lauderdale, FL; Edward (Kathy) Craig, Jr., Newton Hamilton, PA; Fred (Sandy) Craig, Pinellas Park, FL; Patti (Scott) Powell, Mebane, NC; Robert (Holly) Craig, Millerstown, PA; Janet (Scott) Robitzer, Reading, PA; James Craig and Susan Gardner, Newton Hamilton, PA; and Gary (Melinda) Craig, Newton Hamilton, PA. Nineteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren also survive. Anna Louise graduated from Mount Union High School in 1940 and attended Thompson Business School in York, PA. Mrs. Craig then accepted a position at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. where she loyally served her country during World War II. Later she moved to Harrisburg and was employed by the State Bureau of Elections and Legislation. In 1945 she married Edward Leo Craig, Sr. and returned to Newton Hamilton. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Newton Hamilton and the PA State Grange. During her lifetime as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Anna was also known as a wonderful cook and baker for her family. Her favorite pastime was completing beautiful needlework projects of crocheting, embroidery, and cross-stitching. Anna was an outstanding Christian lady who exemplified the finest virtues of American Life. She was most respected by family members, friends, neighbors and acquaintances. She will be greatly missed by her family. Friends will be received Tuesday, July 26, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. until the 1:00 p.m. funeral service at Heath-Anderson Funeral Home, Mount Union, PA. The Rev. Faith Anderson will be officiating. Burial will take place following the service at the Newton Hamilton Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Heath-Anderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 61 E.
