Parrish, Eugenia “Genie” M. (Moran), 74, was called home to heaven surrounded by her family on September 21, 2020 at UPMC Altoona. Born August 10, 1946, Altoona, daughter of the late Peter and Lydia (Bollman) Moran. Preceded in death by her childhood sweetheart Joseph E. Parrish, whom she married on August 19, 1961 and created a beautiful family; infant granddaughter, Meghan Fitzsimmons; brothers, Pete and Georgie Moran; sister, Dorothy Moran; and son-in-law, Chris Baker. Survived by her children, Trace Baker and companion, Pete Symosky; Mary Jo Fitzsimmons and husband, Collins; Paul Parrish and wife, Lori; Renee Pettenati and husband, Robert; Alison McElheny and husband, Gerald; 15 grandchildren, Danielle (William) Sumner, Samantha Fitzsimmons, Jason Hoover, PJ Parrish, Seth (Ashley) Parrish, Stephanie (Jonathan) Barkand, Patrick (Ashley Merritts) Parrish, Nicholas (Meghin) Pettenati, Jacob Parrish, Alex Pettenati, Sebastian Pettenati, Spencer McElheny, Chase Baker, Lydia McElheny, and Isabella Pettenati; 9 great-grandchildren, Mattix Sumner, Joseph Parrish, Rolland Sumner, Cohen Hoover, Austin Parrish, Jameson Parrish, Anthony Parrish, Sophia Parrish, and Kylar Pettenati; sisters -in-Law, Linda (Hall) Moran; Paula Mitchell; Ada Parrish; and Pauline Parrish. Genie enjoyed painting, singing and had a passion for trivia. Together with her husband Joe, their greatest love of life was their family, and she shared her devotion to the Blessed Mother with them. Genie was a lifelong member of Saint Francis Xavier Church, Cresson. Her top priority was her faith and she shared her time and talent through the years. Though illness plagued her throughout her life she offered it up to the Sacred Heart of Jesus for the intention of others daily. She made sure her family received faith, hope, and love. Eugenia’s Family wishes to thank all the Staff on the 3rd and 4th Floors of Cambria Care, especially those who assisted with her frequent FaceTime calls to her children. They would also like to thank the UPMC Altoona Hospital ICU 8th floor ICU team who showed compassion and empathy above and beyond. Friends and family will be received Friday, September 25, 2020 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m at Anderson Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 233 Keystone Ave., Cresson, where a vigil service for the deceased will be held at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, September 26, 2020 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Church. Committal St. Francis Xavier Cemetery. Due to COVID-19 restrictions visitors are asked to wear a mask and abide by social distancing guidelines.
